Live better in your body

Functional Yoga Therapy & Therapeutic Movement

Movement is medicine. When you move well, you live well.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, navigating midlife changes, managing persistent pain, or simply wanting to move with greater ease and confidence, I’m here to help you build a healthier relationship with your body.

Through Functional Yoga Therapy, therapeutic movement, and mindful movement education, I help women reconnect with their bodies, move with confidence, and create lasting change that supports everyday life.

Because feeling well isn’t about pushing harder.

It’s about moving smarter.

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve done the exercises. You’ve followed the advice. You’ve rested, stretched, strengthened, and tried to do all the right things. Yet something still feels off.

Perhaps you’re experiencing:

  • Recurring aches and pains

  • Stiff hips, shoulders, or back

  • Fear of moving in certain ways

  • Loss of strength or confidence

  • Fatigue and reduced energy

  • Frustration that your body doesn’t feel like it used to

You don’t need to simply accept these changes as part of getting older. Your body has an incredible capacity to adapt, heal, and learn new movement patterns.

Functional Yoga Therapy: The Bridge Between Rehab and Real Life

Traditional rehabilitation often focuses on isolated exercises. But life isn’t lived in isolation. You need to bend, reach, lift, walk, garden, travel, exercise, play with grandchildren, and enjoy daily activities without constantly thinking about pain or limitation.

My approach combines:

  • Yoga Therapy

  • Functional Movement

  • Biomechanics

  • Nervous System Regulation

  • Breathwork

  • Self-Myofascial Release

  • Mind-Body Awareness

Together, we explore how your body moves, where compensation patterns may be creating stress, and how to develop movement options that feel safe, efficient, and sustainable. The goal isn’t perfect posture or perfect yoga poses. The goal is helping you live better in your body.

How I Work

In our sessions together, we go beyond just stretching and strengthening. I help you retrain your nervous system, guiding you through movements that feel safe and supportive. Using a blend of biomechanics, yoga therapy, and self-myofascial massage, we gently shift patterns of tension and guarding, creating new possibilities for ease and mobility.

In each session we’ll explore:

  • How your body currently moves and where compensations are showing up

  • Gentle but effective practices to help you move safely and with confidence

  • Tools to calm your nervous system and retrain movement patterns

  • Personalised strategies that fit your body’s unique needs

Your body is always adapting, and with the right approach, it can learn new ways to move—ways that feel strong, stable, and pain-free.

Healing and movement retraining take time. While a single session can provide insights and immediate relief, lasting change happens through consistent practice and progressive adjustments. That’s why I recommend committing to a minimum of six 1 hour sessions which we will review the progress of together.

Sessions available online or in-person (location dependant).

Why Yoga Therapy Works

Yoga is more than just stretching or exercise—it’s a practice of deep listening. In the yogic tradition, healing is not about forcing the body into a shape but about cultivating awareness, balance, and ease.

In my approach, we integrate:

  • Breath as a Guide – Your breath is a direct line to your nervous system. Learning to breathe with ease can help release tension, reduce pain sensitivity, and support healing.

  • Balance of Strength & Ease (Sthira & Sukha) – Movement isn’t just about strength or flexibility. It’s about finding the right balance—stability without strain, freedom without force.

  • Compassionate Awareness (Ahimsa & Svadhyaya) – Instead of pushing through pain, we practice self-inquiry: What is your body telling you? How can you move in a way that feels safe and supported?

Through this mindful approach, we retrain not just the body, but the way we experience movement—so you can move with confidence, comfort, and trust in yourself again.

My Story From Pain to Confidence

Hi I’m Sheryl, qualified Yoga Therapist (BCYT)

Years ago, I was in your shoes. SI joint dysfunction, rotator cuff injuries, knee pain, and constant fatigue. No matter what I did—physio, exercises, stretching—nothing gave me the lasting relief I was looking for.

It wasn’t until I found a more holistic integrative approach, blending yoga therapy, biomechanics, self-myofascial relief, and nervous system regulation, that I truly started to heal.

The turning point? Understanding that pain isn’t just about tight or weak muscles. It’s your body’s way of asking for a new approach—one that listens to its signals. When I learned to respect my body’s “yellow lights” instead of pushing through pain, everything changed.

Now, I’m passionate about helping you get back to doing what you love, without the fear or frustration.

My approach is gentle, holistic, and rooted in the understanding that healing comes from the mind-body connection. Together, we’ll create a personalised plan that addresses your unique challenges and helps you move toward pain-free living.

What My Client’s Have to Say

“Sheryl’s yoga therapy sessions helped me feel stable, stronger, at peace with myself and really happy. With Sheryl I felt safe & at ease.”

- 1-1 Client with MS

“Very quickly into our first session Sheryl was able to show me how I had been over compensating the majority of my arm and leg movements using my back. By breaking down each movement , Sheryl helped me learn my yellow range and help me rewire my movement pattern so I could focus on the correct muscle movements. She has helped me reconnect & change my movements patterns which has lead to no back pain & a reduction in tension in my jaw muscles and teeth grinding.”

- 1-1 Client with SI Joint Pain and Jaw Pain

“The practice of yoga Nidra has helped me massively to take and maintain control of emotions and energy levels in such a short space of time. This is largely due to Sheryl's kindness and professionalism and her ability to listen, tune in, support and mentor me as an individual. I would highly recommend trying yoga Nidra with Sheryl.”
